Ban on more than 47 lakh accounts in March

The report further states that the messaging app banned a total of 4,715,906 accounts between March 1 and March 31, in which 1,659,385 accounts were banned before complaints were received. While the rest of the accounts were banned after complaints.

WhatsApp said that social media platforms with more than 5 million users have to submit compliance reports every month. This report contains information about the complaints received from the users and the action taken on them. Apart from this, the content related to hate speech and fake news is also mentioned in the report.

Between January 1 and February 28, so many accounts were banned

Before March, WhatsApp had banned 4,597,400 Indian accounts between January 1 and February 28. Of these, 1,298,000 accounts were such, which were removed from the platform after receiving the complaint.
