Happy June, everyone! Now that I think I’ve finally fully recovered from TCMFF, I have plenty of things to look forward to on TCM. June looks like it’s going to be right up my alley for a lot of reasons. First of all, there’s a Billy Wilder tribute every Friday night this month. I adore Billy Wilder, so I know what I’ll be spending my Friday nights. The wonderful Marie Dressler is the Star of the Month so lots of her movies will be playing every Monday night. On both Wednesday and Thursday nights, TCM will be doing a spotlight on films that were adaptations of stage plays. Although not every movie shown during this series will be a musical, there are plenty of musicals included in there, so I’m looking forward to that.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the highlights of TCM’s June schedule!
June 1: June kicks off with the first part of the spotlight on film adaptations of play. Up tonight are Long Day’s Journey Into Night at 8:00 PM, Our Town at 11:00 PM, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf at 12:45 AM, These Three at 3:15 AM, and The Sea Gull at 5:15 AM.
June 2: More stage-to-screen adaptations tonight with Show Boat (1936) at 8:00 PM, Rose Marie at 10:00 PM, Good News at 12:00 PM, Irene at 1:45 AM, Cabin in the Sky at 3:45 AM, and Little Nellie Kelly at 5:30 AM.
June 3: A few more of the stage-to-screen adaptations into today with On the Town at 7:15 AM, Naughty Marietta at 9:00 AM, On Your Toes at 11:00 AM, and Girl Crazy at 12:45 PM. Then it’s on to a whole lot of Billy Wilder with Some Like it Hot at 2:30 PM, The Major and the Minor at 8:00 PM, Five Graves to Cairo at 10:00 PM, Double Indemnity at 12:00 AM, The Lost Weekend at 2:00 AM.
June 6: All sorts of good stuff on today! On the Waterfront at 7:15 AM, East of Eden at 9:15 AM, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at 2:30 PM, Key Largo at 4:30 PM, The Maltese Falcon (1941) at 6:15 PM. Then Marie Dressler has her first turn as Star of the Month with Chasing Rainbows at 8:00 PM, The Divine Lady at 9:30 PM, The Patsy at 11:15 PM, Tillie’s Punctured Romance at 12:45 AM, and The Hollywood Revue of 1929 at 2:15 AM.
June 8: The stage-to-screen adaptations are back tonight with A Streetcar Named Desire at 8:00 PM, Miss Julie at 10:15 PM, A Doll’s House at 12:00 AM, Equus at 2:00 AM, and Picnic at 4:30 AM.
June 9: More stage-to-screen adaptations with The King and I at 8:00 PM, Carousel at 10:30 PM, Annie Get Your Gun at 1:00 AM, Guys and Dolls at 3:00 AM, and Kiss Me Kate at 5:45 AM.
June 10: Does it get any better than a night of Billy Wilder movies? Sunset Boulevard is up at 8:00 PM, followed by Ace in the Hole at 10:00 PM, Stalag 17 at 12:00 AM, The Spirit of St. Louis at 2:15 AM.
June 12: Sabrina at 2:00 PM, An American in Paris at 4:00 PM, After the Thin Man at 6:00 PM, The Glass Key at 8:00 PM, The Blue Dahlia at 9:45 PM.
June 13: Marie Dressler returns tonight with Anna Christie at 8:00 PM, Let Us Be Gay at 9:45 PM, The Girl Said No at 11:15 PM, The Vagabond Lover at 1:00 AM.
June 14: Candace Bergen is this month’s Guest Programmer. She’s chosen tonight’s lineup of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre at 8:00 PM, The Graduate at 10:15 PM, The Earrings of Madame De… at 12:15 AM, and The French Connection at 2:15 AM.

June 21: It’s a night of Robert Osborne’s picks with Song of the Islands at 8:00 PM, You Were Never Lovelier at 9:30 PM, Lifeboat at 11:15 PM, and Marriage is a Private Affair at 1:00 AM.
June 22: Hard to argue with a day of James Cagney movies! June 26: Strike Up the Band at 6:00 AM, All About Eve at 3:30 PM, Go West at 12:00 AM.
June 27: Marie Dressler has one more night as Star of the Month with Dinner at Eight at 8:00 PM, Tugboat Annie at 10:00 PM, Emma at 11:45 PM, and Prosperity at 1:15 AM.
June 29: We enter the home stretch of the stage adaptation spotlight tonight with Macbeth at 8:00 PM, Hamlet at 10:00 PM, A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 12:45 AM, Romeo and Juliet at 3:15 AM, and King Lear at 5:30 AM.
