Happy July, everyone! It’s looking like it’s going to be a pretty quiet month on TCM, but there are still two very good reasons to watch this month: Ronald Colman as Star of the Month and the 50 Years of Hitchcock spotlight. I like Ronald Colman, so I’m looking forward to seeing his movies every Thursday night this month. The Hitchcock spotlight is a bit bigger and will be happening every Wednesday and Friday night. I know I can’t complain about knowing that I’ll have two nights each week where I’ll be coming home to lots of Hitchcock movies.
Without further ado, let’s get on to the rest of the schedule.
July 1: You’ll find quite a variety of good movies on throughout the day, including The Mummy at 6:30 AM, Requiem for a Heavyweight at 12:00 PM, Badlands at 6:00 PM, and The Lady Eve at 8:00 PM.
July 2: They Live by Night at 8:00 PM, Yankee Doodle Dandy at 12:00 PM, Viva Las Vegas at 2:15 PM, and On the Town at 4:00 PM.
July 4: Happy 4th of July! Of course, you can expect to find patriotic classics like Yankee Doodle Dandy at 8:00 PM and 1776 at 10:15 PM.
July 5: I’m a big fan of today’s lineup. During the day, there are some good ones from Fritz Lang, like Scarlet Street at 8:30 AM and Clash by Night at 10:30 AM. In prime time, it’s the first night of TCM’s 50 years of Hitchcock spotlight, starting with a night full of his silent work: The Ring at 8:00 PM, Downhill at 9:45 PM, The Farmer’s Wife at 11:45 PM, The Lodger at 1:45 AM, The Manxman at 3:30 AM, and Blackmail at 5:00 AM.
July 6: Here’s another banner day. There are a few more from Hitchcock on during the day, Murder! at 6:45 AM, The Skin Game at 8:30 AM, Rich and Strange at 10:00 AM, and Psycho at 12:00 PM. Then it’s on to Star of the Month Ronald Colman, with The White Sister at 8:00 PM, The Winning of Barbara Worth at 10:30 PM, Bulldog Drummond at 12:15 AM, Raffles at 2:00 AM, The Devil to Pay at 3:30 AM, and Cynara at 5:00 AM.
July 7: It’s another night of Hitchcock with Number Seventeen at 8:00 Pm, The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) at 9:30 PM, The 39 Steps at 11:00 PM, The Lady Vanishes at 12:45 AM, Jamaica Inn at 2:45 AM.
July 10: It’s a day of John Gilbert movies, with La Boheme at 6:00 AM, A Woman of Affairs at 7:45 AM, Desert Nights at 9:30 AM, The Big Parade at 10:45 AM, Way for a Sailor at 1:30 PM, Downstairs at 3:00 PM, The Show at 4:30 PM, and Flesh and the Devil at 6:00 PM. For prime time, fast forward to the midcentury era with The Moon is Blue at 8:00 PM, The Best of Everything at 10:00 PM, A Star is Born at 12:15 AM, and North by Northwest at 3:30 AM.

July 13: It’s another night of Ronald Colman with Lost Horizon at 8:00 PM, If I Were King at 10:30 PM, Clive of India at 12:30 AM, The Light that Failed at 2:15 AM.
July 14: The Hitchcock spotlight continues with Shadow of a Doubt at 8:00 PM, Lifeboat at 10:00 AM, Spellbound at 12:00 AM, Notorious at 2:15 AM, and The Paradine Case at 4:15 AM.
July 15: Tonight, you can see a great on-screen/on-screen romance double feature with Woman of the Year at 8:00 PM and To Have and Have Not at 10:15 PM.
July 16: This afternoon has an interesting assortment of movies that I like despite them not having anything in common — I Love You Again at 8:15 PM, Gun Crazy at 10:00 AM, Pat and Mike at 12:00 PM, Beach Blanket Bingo at 2:00 PM, and The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer at 4:00 PM.
July 18: Looking forward to Halloween? Get your horror movie fix today with Vampyr at 6:00 AM, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920) at 7:15 AM, and The Wolf Man at 9:45 AM. Then it’s on to a night of movies set in the south, like The Drowning Pool at 8:00 PM and Deliverance at 12:00 AM.
July 19: More Hitchcock tonight with Rope at 8:00 PM, Stage Fright at 9:30 PM, Strangers on a Train at 11:30 PM, I Confess at 1:30 AM, and Dial M for Murder at 3:30 AM.
July 20: It’s a day of Natalie Wood today with The Searchers at 6:00 AM, Splendor in the Grass at 8:15 AM, Sex and the Single Girl at 10:30 AM, The Great Race at 12:30 PM, Inside Daisy Clover at 3:30 PM, and Brainstorm at 6:00 PM. Then it’s back to Ronald Colman with A Tale of Two Cities at 8:00 PM, The Prisoner of Zenda at 10:40 PM, Kismet at 12:30 AM, Lucky Partners at 2:30 AM, and My Life With Caroline at 4:30 PM.

July 26: If you’re a big fan of horror and suspense, this is a good day for you. First, you’ve got Cat People at 1:00 PM, House of Wax at 2:30 PM, House on Haunted Hill at 5:30 PM. Then it’s more Hitchcock with Vertigo at 8:00 PM, North By Northwest at 10:30 PM, Psycho at 1:00 AM, and The Birds at 3:00 AM.
July 27: One last night of Ronald Colman as Star of the Month with A Double Life at 8:00 PM, Random Harvest at 10:00 PM, The Talk of the Town at 12:15 AM, and The Late George Apley at 2:30 AM.
July 28: Today’s prime time and daytime lineups couldn’t be more different, but I’m into both of them. During the day, there are great musicals like On the Town at 7:45 AM, Born to Dance at 11:30 AM, and Anchors Aweigh at 5:30 PM. Then the Hitchcock spotlight comes to an end with Marnie at 8:00 PM, Torn Curtain at 10:30 PM, Topaz at 1:00 AM, Frenzy at 3:30 AM, and Family Plot at 5:30 AM.
July 29: It’s another one of those days where you can see a whole bunch of really good movies, but they’re all pretty different. Bad Day at Black Rock at 4:45 PM, Them! at 6:15 PM, Some Like it Hot at 8:00 PM, Trapeze at 10:15 PM, and The Defiant Ones at 12:15 AM.
July 31: I’m a huge fan of today’s lineup. The Bad and the Beautiful at 9:15 AM, The Cameraman at 11:15 AM, Show People at 12:45 PM, The Barefoot Contessa at 2:15 PM, Day for Night at 4:30 PM, F for Fake at 6:30 PM, Reds at 9:30 PM, and Manhattan Murder Mystery at 2:30 AM.
