What’s New on iOS: Mark Hikes Complete, 3D Previews & More Offline

Posted on the 24 June 2026 by Hiiker

The latest HiiKER update is rolling out now on iPhone and Apple Watch. Update from the App Store to get it.

We’ve just shipped one of our most useful iOS updates in a while — built around two things hikers ask us for most: keeping track of the trails you’ve done, and having more of HiiKER work when you’re off the grid. Here’s everything that’s new.

✅ Track the hikes you’ve completed

You can now mark a hike as complete and set the date you finished it. Completed hikes can be hidden from your hike list and your public profile, and your hike counts can be shown with completed ones excluded — so it’s easy to see what you’ve conquered and what’s still on the list.

🗺 Preview routes in 3D

The hike overview carousel now includes a 3D map preview, so you can get a real feel for the terrain and elevation of a route before you ever lace up your boots.

📡 More of HiiKER, offline

When you download maps for an area, HiiKER now also precaches a lot more alongside them for true offline use:

  • Individual hikes and recordings
  • Their images — across the list, map and gallery views
  • Hike-highlight audio

So the trails, photos and highlights you care about are there when there’s no signal.

🔎 Smarter search

Search results are now ranked by popularity with softer distance bands, so the hikes most people love near you rise to the top.

🧭 New quick actions & planner tweaks

  • Two new quick actions: Compare Maps and Set Compass Bearing — assign them for one-tap access.
  • In the planner, tap or long-press anywhere on the map to open a feature-options sheet.
  • The Live Locator viewer map header now matches the main hike map page for a more consistent view.

🐛 Fixes & polish

  • Hike overview details stay visible when you’re offline.
  • “Hide current location marker” is now respected on every map.
  • Fixed a rare crash when two screens tried to open at once.
  • The measurement tool now clears properly when reloading a route.
  • Coordinates bar keeps its full size when slots are empty, review dates are tidied up, and the PRO badge sits neatly above your avatar on the home screen.

As always, this update is shaped by your feedback — keep it coming. Happy hiking! ⛰
