Plot: At a Scandinavian psychiatric hospital, an uneasy triumvirate of multiple murderer Mads, therapist Anna, and policeman Soren, all have a vested interest in unearthing the truth, and a deepening co-dependency threatens to consume them all.

Story: What Remains starts when Mads Lake (G. Skarsgård) faces a new therapist Anna (Riseborough). He is known as a multiple murderer and rapist of young men. Meanwhile, Detective Soren Rank (S. Skarsgård) looks back at the cases.
The three come together to learn what drove Mads to the crimes. However, neither Anna nor Soren are prepared for the levels of abuse he suffered as a child. It leads to doubt over whether he committed the crimes or even knew what he was doing.
Verdict on What Remains
What Remains is a crime thriller exploring the mindset of a known serial killer. It follows a therapist and detective trying to understand his motives and discover a darker side to everything. While even more of his crimes start coming to light and they must figure out how to process the criminal.
This is a dark thriller and it asks a bigger question about criminals. It poses the question about what should be done with them, when they don’t know everything they did was wrong. This dives into childhood traumas, that give disturbing glimpses into reality. The performances are fantastic and the movie leaves you thinking more than you could imagine.
