What is Your Backyard Personality Going to Be for 2016?

By Simone Design Blog @HomeSpire

As I sit here watching the beauty of a fall morning unfold before my eyes I am reminded that I should work outside  today because there are not many days left to enjoy the breathtaking view from my backyard.

I decided to read an email sent by Catlin Sachs over at DesignsByStonescapes.com and find it ironic that the subject just happens to be about backyard designs.

Intrigued, I decide to investigate.

Caitlin invited all of HomeSpirations subscribers to take part in a “backyard personality” quiz and I thought, “How fun and creative this is,” so I decided to do it.

I must admit I was amazed at how accurate the results are.

I wanted to share it with everyone because I think this is a great way to get inspired for next year’s backyard design.

Take the quiz and see for yourself.

I know you might be thinking, “Isn’t it a bit too early to start planning for next year’s design?

I think it’s the best time to start planning for next year because chances are you can find all the materials that you will need at discounted prices as retailers scramble to get rid of stock. Saving money means you will have a bit left over for some extras and as every designer knows, it is the “extras” that can really make the difference.

Remember, last year’s stock does not necessarily mean outdated stock, it just means the retailer may need the space for seasonal items.

While browsing on DesignsByStones website I found a few backyard designs that caught my attention and thought I would share them with you as well.

In particular, I love this design because it is really hard to distinguish whether or not the design is inside or outside, can you tell the difference?

I have always loved circular or “non-conforming” edges, it adds a whole dimension of creative design.

Stone is a great way to liven up a small space by creating a huge amount of depth.

Stone walkways are not the only things that can add some backyard magic, how about a firepit made from stone?

Or retaining walls?

Whatever your project may be, make sure to include some of the extras you need on your Christmas wish list and then you can add even more extras like that swing you been waiting for over a year.  (hint! hint! Santa!)

Thank you Caitlin for the inspiration for this post, the quiz and the images!
