What is the Longest Flight Route in the World?

Posted on the 04 May 2017 by Mountain Publishing @mountainpublish

The first ever commercial flight in history was made back in 1914, and was a mere 38km journey between two cities in Florida. In the century that has passed since, technology has made rapid improvements, costs have gone down and demand has shot way up, making flights in excess of 10,000km perfectly routine.

A new infographic from Aertec Solutions takes a look at some of the longest flights in the world. In the number one spot is Dubai to Auckland, clocking in at a staggering 14,216km (8,833 miles) and over 17 hours in the air. Singapore to New York had previously been the world’s longest flight at 15,330km, until it was discontinued in 2014. Later this year, Doha to Santiago is due to take the crown, just nudging the previous champion off the top spot at 14,413km.
