As you probably already know, cars have several sensors. Some are used to control automatic climate control, but there are still other convenience devices. Just behind the windscreen, the grille on the roof is an element that is generally found in vehicles equipped with a multimedia system that allows connection to the mobile phone via Bluetooth or by cable. Precisely, behind this small grid, hides the microphone. It is also used for voice-activated systems, for listening to music and enjoying good sound when traveling, for example. Although it is in height, it ensures good capture of the voice of the driver and the front passenger. No need to be too close, since its characteristics allow it to record the sound of the entire car interior.

No matter what car you own, it’s important to know where your microphone is. Why ? There are two main reasons: firstly, to make sure that your interlocutor hears what you say and also picks up the voices of other passengers. The microphone for making calls can be located anywhere near the driver, for better voice quality. The most obvious position for any type of auxiliary device, and especially a car microphone, is on the dashboard itself. What if the microphone does not work?

Do you notice that your microphone is defective or that it simply refuses to work? There are a few tricks to try and fix the problem.
- Try resetting your connection and reconnecting your device. If that doesn’t work, switch to a wireless connection. Also make sure that you are using the latest firmware for your devices.
- This method does not bring the expected result? So, in this case, delete all devices from the cell phone memory in order to access only the dedicated application. Do the same in reverse on the dashboard: delete the list of mobile phones from the car’s memory. To do this, simply consult the vehicle manual in order to erase “all the mobiles that you do not use”.
If none of these solutions work, better seek help from a service center.
Good to know : first of all, do not forget to check the microphone openings of the car. If they are clogged with lint, dust or dirt residue, it is most likely that it cannot function properly. To clean them, simply use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. And wipe gently so as not to damage the components.
