Hello GlamFam! Have you ever looked at your closet that's packed with clothing and still feel that you have nothing to wear?? I know the feeling well, and that's exactly what inspired me to try out the amazing 10×10 capsule wardrobe challenge. Have you ever heard of it? It's a genius exercise that encourages you to be creative with your current clothing by selecting 10 pieces of clothing and creating 10 different outfits for 10 days! By choosing pieces that can be mixed and matched you'll discover the art of maximizing style with minimal resources. Plus, it's a creative way to learn about the versatility of your clothing!
Take a look below at my favorite outfits that I created during the 10 x 10 capsule wardrobe challenge!
10×10 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge
These are the items I chose for this challenge:
10 items (4 bottoms, 6 tops/jackets):
- Blue jeans
- Black pants
- Linen blend pants
- Leather skirt
- White long sleeve bodysuit
- Black long sleeve bodysuit
- White button up shirt
- Tan sweater
- Cream/Black tweed blazer
- Denim jacket
An Everyday/Everyway Denim Jacket
I love a denim jacket and I've always known they're versatile, but this challenge really showed me just how many outfits you can create with one! The classic appeal of this wardrobe staple allows it to transition from casual to chic so easily. I love to style a denim jacket with jeans, like these from Reformation, and really go for the "all-denim" look. You can even style it into your workwear ensemble by pairing it with some chic black pants like this super chic pair! But best of all, you can find them at several different price points so you'll never have to worry about them being too pricey. Mine is from Target ( here is a similar one) and has been very well-loved!
StyleRx: Shopping your closet is a fabulous way to create an easy seasonal capsule wardrobe or even a travel/vacation set.
Lightweight Linen for Spring
With Spring right around the corner, I figured these linen pants would be a great option for this challenge. The material for these pants is not as "heavy" as you may want for colder weather, but the neutral color is a perfect option for creating multiple outfits. I loved styling these pants with this gorgeous Cult Gaia sweater ( this one is similar). I was able to create several outfits with this combo by simply switching out the shirts underneath, and they turned out to be some of my favorite looks! Plus, don't forget that you can use a sweater as an accessory by draping it over your shoulders. It's a great way to elevate your look and it's so chic!
This is one of my favorite ensembles! It's an outfit that can transition between seasons and day to night. Plus, it's super easy to dress it up or down and you can even wear it to the office! I love the beautiful burgundy color of the leather skirt, and the texture perfectly contrasts with the soft beige sweater. Not to mention those stunning over-the-knee boots that totally complete the outfit!
A Must-Have Chanel Blazer
The Chanel cream/black tweed blazer ( this one is similar) is another of my favorites from this challenge! I loved styling this piece and was so amazed at all of the fabulous ways to wear it. With a neutral cream color as the base, it was easy to swap out the shirts underneath to style with various bottoms. The Everlane White long-sleeve bodysuit and Everlane Black long-sleeve bodysuit are my go-to options for basic undershirts so of course I had to use them for this challenge. The material of these bodysuits is so buttery soft and the ballet scoop neck is super flattering too!
10×10 Wardrobe Staples Everyone Needs
If you're looking for a simple wardrobe staple that can be styled several ways, then I would definitely recommend a simple white button-up shirt. Mine is the Djerf Avenue White button up shirt! As you can see, I was able to style it so many ways and pair it with every other item in this 10 x 10 wardrobe capsule challenge. I love the versatility of this shirt and it's super comfortable too. Plus, we can't forget about the shoes! I chose a few different options for my outfits, like the beautiful black Inez booties, knee-high options like the Paris camel boots, and of course the stunning over-the-knee boots like Stuart Weitzman must-haves ( similar pair here).
I had so much fun trying out this challenge and learned a lot about my wardrobe along the way. In the end, this challenge opened my eyes to how multifaceted a collection of clothing is and has really encouraged me to prioritize quality, versatility, and sustainability in my clothing choices. 10 items of clothing may not seem like a lot, but I ended up with over 30 different outfits ( 39 in total)! I would definitely recommend this challenge to anyone who is looking to streamline their closet and get the most from their clothing!
10×10 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge Takeaway Tips:
- Select a color palette that goes well together
- If you have great foundation pieces, then the accessories/shoes can really elevate the outfit
- Don't be afraid to experiment! Clothes are not permanent like tattoos! They can be taken off!
