To help you make the most of your support and budgets, support coordination can be included in your NDIS plan.
Today, we will discuss the benefits of support coordination and how to incorporate it into your NDIS Plan.
Role and responsibilities of a support coordinator

A support coordinator connects NDIS participants with organizations offering support and services, including mainstream and government services.
They will help you find the right support and activities to meet your NDIS Plan goals.
Support coordination benefits
- Assistance in negotiating service agreements with providers.
- Someone who can make appointment bookings for you
- Support and coaching to help you decide how to best use the funds in your NDIS Plan
- Assistance in managing service disruptions and finding alternate options for regular services that are not available (e.g., coronavirus).
- Assist you in preparing for your Plan Review meeting (reports, assessments, etc.)
Help with coordination and planning for your NDIS Plan
The Capacity Building budget of your NDIS Plan covers support coordination. It can be included in either your first NDIS Plan or any subsequent plans.
Your plan will include support coordination if it is " necessary" to you.
- Support Connection: This tool helps you build your ability and connect with support to get the best out of your NDIS Plan.
- Support coordination: coordination and coordination of supports: Helps you develop skills to understand your NDIS Plan and implement it. This includes ensuring you have the right combination of supports so that you can manage your relationships, access the services you need, and live more independently.
- Specialist assistance coordination: This helps people with more complex needs to manage their challenges and access allied health professionals like psychologists or occupational therapists.
Assist with plan coordination and management
How you manage your NDIS Plan will not affect funding for support coordination. You can choose to have your NDIA plan managed by a plan manager, or you can manage yourself and still receive support coordination funding, provided it is reasonable and necessary.
