What is Herb Arjunarishta?

Arjuna is a large size deciduous tree. The height of the Arjuna tree reaches upto 60 -85 feet. It is an evergreen tree with the yellow flowers and conical leaves. It has a smooth gray bark. Fruit is 2.5 -3.5 cm long, fibrous woody, glabrous with 5 hard wings, striated with numerous curved veins. It produces an Ayurvedic liquid medicine, popularly used as herbal heart tonic. Arjunarishta contains 6 – 12 % of self generated alcohol in it. This self generated alcohol and the water present in the product acts as a media to deliver water and alcohol soluble active herbal components to the body. It is also known as  Parthadyarishtam, Partharishtam etc.

Arjunarista uses 

Arjunarishta is useful in the treatment of chest injury, weakness, feeling tired all the time, chronic respiratory diseases, cough, throat related diseases.

It is extensively used as herbal cardiac tonic,It improves strength and helps to cleanse intestines.

Internal use of stem bark powder of Arjuna provides cardioprotective effects. It is described in Ayurveda as a tonic in heart disease.
Its Ksheerpaka is highly effective to normalize high blood pressure and also acts as a cardioprotective.
In fracture and ulcers of the bones, bandage with its paste is appliedin rural areas.
