Hire a Boat
Boat life is the best kind of life on Capri. When the sun is shining, there’s nothing better to do than take a boat out into the glistening waters and relax on the deck. During summer, the beaches can get pretty busy, which is why many visitors opt for hiring a boat to explore rocky coves and grottos at their own pace.
The Blue Grotto
The most prominent natural landmark on Capri is the Blue Grotto. This incredible feat of nature was founded by the Roman emperor Tiberius, and boasts an optical effect that’s orchestrated by the sunlight. When the sun is in the right place, it casts a beautiful electric blue glow into an ancient cave.
Faraglioni Rocks
Capri is also famous for its resident Faraglioni Rocks. This imposing rock formation consists of three individual limestone stacks, and is actually one of the very first things visitors see when they’re on their way to the island. In fact, the stacks are so big that, on a clear day, you can see them from Positano and Praiano on the Amalfi Coast. There are beautiful views from the rocks, as well as the vibrant gardens of Augustus, and don’t forget to swim next to them at the neighbouring beach club.
Anacapri
There are actually two towns that make up the island of Capri. Most visitors tend to just make their mark in Capri town, which is famed for hotspots like the Piazzetta, Marina Piccola, and plenty of boutique-lined shopping streets. However, Anacapri sits just a short way away at the top of a hill and allows visitors to step back in time. From the peak, you can gaze out across the rest of Capri and even take the chairlift up to the top of Monte Solara.
