What I Wore This Weekend

By Wardrobeoxygen

This weekend was our 17th wedding anniversary and to celebrate we did a little two-night getaway to DC. Our home in Maryland is only a few miles from the DC border, but this weekend away felt like a world away and was just what the doctor ordered! While I will do a full review of the hotel in a future post, in the meantime here is what I wore this weekend in DC:

This is the Boden dress I mentioned Friday. I'm thrilled to see it is back in stock. I wore it on the drive to DC and for the rest of the day. It was warm but breezy and this dress was perfect for catching breezes and staying cool while looking polished.

I paired it with my trusty Maxwell Scott saddle bag that I have owned for several years (here's when I first shared it on the blog in 2015) and my ALLY NYC flats, which are so comfy I could wear them all day sightseeing and walking around the city. FYI, use WO2FLATS to get 10% off a pair of flats at ALLY! The sunglasses are the 62mm aviators from Ray-Ban; the polarization is worth the investment.

That evening I showered and changed into my Osei Duro jumpsuit for dinner and a quick visit to the nearby dog park to give our pup Oscar some social/activity time. This jumpsuit has been such a good buy. It looks really cool, but it's super comfy and breezy. You can read my Osei Duro jumpsuit review here.

I also have the matching mask which makes a great look. I felt pretty cool walking into a restaurant to secure an outside table with the combo. With it, I wore my white leather Birkenstocks, which are my summer go-to and fit the relaxed vibe of the jumpsuit. I know some were curious about how this jumpsuit washes; I have not put it in the dryer but I have washed it on gentle a handful of times and it shrank only a hair. I do not iron or steam it; I think the subtle rumpled effect works with the fabric, print, and style of the jumpsuit.

The next day for sightseeing and enjoying the city, I wore this black jersey twist-front dress from Nordstrom's old in-house brand Trouve. I got this dress a few years ago; you can see the original 2018 review at this link. After all these years, this dress still looks and fits great. This dress is no longer available; on Instagram Stories I said was similar but I think the slit makes it less versatile. I think this one from Treasure & Bond is a better alternative (here's the link for the same dress in plus sizes). It has been such a good dress for travel, for running errands, and switch out the shoes and you look great for a dinner date. Below is a carousel of other knit dresses with strategic ruching or tie detail:

I added a pair of Thigh Society cooling shorts underneath for preventing chub rub and they didn't move and felt like I was almost wearing nothing (BTW WARDROBEOXYGEN15 gets you 15% off at Thigh Society). I mean, I wore Thigh Society shorts with all the dresses, but I know it's harder to find good slip shorts to wear under fitted knit dresses which can make items ride up; the cooling fabric was perfect for this.

I am using my Girlfriend Collective belt bag as a crossbody, and my shoes are Allbirds (read my Allbirds review and how they work for wide feet). The hat came in a PR package from the skincare brand Colleen Rothschild; it says SPF on it (it came with their new mineral sunscreen which I was also wearing). is similar. And again my Ray-Ban aviators. The earrings are these from Baublebar; they are the same ones I wore with the jumpsuit the night prior.

That evening, we walked a half hour to dinner and it was warm and a bit humid. To look polished but still be comfortable, I chose this shirtdress from Chico's Black Label collection in size L. This pink on pink snakeskin print is so darn pretty and a perk: it hides sweat! This is the kind of shirtdress you could wear without a belt for more of a shift effect, switch out the belt, even wear it open like a duster. The sleeves are 3/4 length with elasticized cuffs which is a fun effect (and also makes it easy to push up your sleeves!).

We took Oscar our dog for a walk and to head to CVS to grab toothpaste since we forgot to pack it. We headed to the gym after so I dressed for both with the Carnival Fairy leggings and sports bra from Miami Fitwear's amazing Pride collection. 25% of each purchase from the Miami Fitwear Pride collection goes to It Gets Better. Also if you use WARDROBEOXYGEN15 at checkout to get 15% off your Miami Fitwear order (Pride and other charitable collections not included).

For pajamas, I brought and these pants from Soma's Cool Nights Collection. I love this print; they also have and in this pattern and this coral cami is a perfect complement. It was nice to have to chill out in between activities; here I am scrolling through the photos my husband took while we were out and about.
