Greetings from Santa Barbara! If you're following me on Instagram you know I'm in California for a blogging conference as the guest of the beauty company L'Occitaine. It's such a beautiful part of the country, I've never been here before. In fact, every other time I've been in California it's been for short trips, less than 48 hours, and most of that time was spent in hotels, conference rooms, and studios. So I was PSYCHED to see on the conference agenda they were having a beach party!
Dress: c/o Soma Intimates (old; see other dresses from Soma) | Earrings: Amazon | Cuff: Had forever ( similar) | Shoes: Birkenstocks | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
The dress code just said "wear your flip flops." Well, I don't own flip flops, but I do have a couple pairs of Birks and chose to wear my silver metallic pair. Knowing we'd be at the beach, I wanted something that would repel sand, handle being knotted to dip my toes in the surf, and be comfortable. Soma Intimates sent me this dress last year and it's only been on the blog once but been worn dozens of times. It's a silky jersey that's light enough to have great drape but heavy enough to not cling or show every lump or bump. It also has deep pockets and a neckline that looks cute on or off the shoulders. I've worn it with a vintage brown leather belt, but usually just wear as you see it here with silver hoops and my cuff. Oh, and this has been in the washer and dryer sooo many times and still looks like new. It has made me a Soma Intimates apparel fan.
As for a bag... I didn't bring one! I used my Dagne Dover card holder to hold business cards, hotel key, wallet essentials, and some Listerine strips. The pockets are deep enough to hold that, my phone, my sunglasses, and my lipcolor. I was walking distance from my hotel in case I needed anything additional. When we got to the beach, we removed our shoes. Sears sponsored the event and were passing out branded flip flops that left their logo as a print in the sand. There were couches, a bar, and waitstaff passing out drinks and hors d'ourves. When we arrived a man was playing a steel drum; later a band performed beachy themed classics.
After a full day at the conference I made several friends and met in person others I had only befriended virtually; Candy from Travel Pockets took this photo while Christine from Madame Ostrich took the other photos of me. I left my camera in my hotel room so we made do with my iPhone, it really didn't capture the beauty of the evening. But stay tuned, I'll be sharing a full recap from my trip and far better photos hopefully next week!
