What I Wore: Friday Night Dinner Date

Friday night, I was invited to check out The Pembroke, a new restaurant in the Dupont Circle Hotel. I brought my friend Nicole as my date, and for the evening I wore this look of several pieces you've seen several times before on the blog. This is one of my go-to looks for a Friday night dinner date - blazer, camisole, and dark jeans.

It may not stop traffic, but I love wearing an all-black outfit, especially when it incorporates a variety of textures. This jacket is from my Le Smoking which was on the blog last month and last year. The satin lapels keep it from looking corporate. Talbots has a similar version this year and it's on major sale; if they don't have your size I've pulled together a few more dressy blazers that achieve the same effect:

The camisole is the same one seen in this post, and it's the same as the pale pink cami in this post. I love that it has adjustable straps and can go into the washer and dryer. As for the bra, I'm wearing this one and it's by far my favorite strapless. The jeans are the same ones from Everlane I reviewed in this post. I threw them in the washer and dryer and it seemed to tighten them up a bit. However, throughout the evening they stretched back to being a hair too big. I now know I need to get these in a smaller size (for reference I am a 32 in most denim brands which is what size this pair is).

These booties have been such a good buy for this fall and winter (see them in this post and this post). They're quite comfortable while still having a slim heel and elongated toe. The earrings are the first item from Jenny Bird I ever purchased and are still a fave; see them in this post and this post. And the bag I bought at the beginning of fall and use so often. It's great as a shoulder bag (it has a detachable strap) or held in the hand, the print and texture add interest to a look, and it's big enough to hold my wallet and other essentials. It's currently on sale almost 50% off at Dillard's; if leopard isn't your thing Thacker NYC has this bag in a variety of colors and textures:

This outfit really shows how clothing in your closet can have multiple lives. Don't be afraid to break up suits and wear pieces individually, and to mix dressy with casual, ornate with simple, or make a work blazer date night friendly by pairing with feminine pieces.

As for the restaurant? Everything at The Pembroke was delicious. We had great service and the space is gorgeous; I love the peach and soft blue shades. I look forward to spring when they have seating out on their patio overlooking Dupont Circle.
