Master of None
The second season of Master of None came out a week or so ago and, like everybody else, I watched the entire thing in about 2 sittings. Aziz Ansari is up there in my TV favourites and I couldn’t even tell you the number of times I’ve rewatched the first season of Master of None! The second season didn’t quite grip me as much as the first, it’s a little more serious - still as funny, of course - but a lot more story and development. Totally worth putting aside two evenings for.DanMachi
Adventure anime fans will probably enjoy DanMachi. Its full title is Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon? which makes it sound more problematic than it is: what it actually is, is a 13-episode anime revolving around an adventurer who must conquer dungeons in order to earn his keep. He meets girls along the way, all of whom are charismatic, a little crazy and oh so sassy. It’s more than I can describe but I don’t want to say too much as it’s such a short series!Gin no Guardian
If you’re just getting into anime, Gin no Guardian would be a great shout for you! With shorter episodes than usual (15 minutes instead of around 30!), the anime is a fun one to dip into. The story revolves around an online game, a beautiful girl and a nerdy guy. Go figure. Whilst the story *may* be a tiny bit cliche, the animation itself is beautiful and it’s not a bad watch for the evenings.Pretty Little Liars
It goes without saying really that I’ve been on it with Pretty Little Liars. I’ve been watching PLL for longer than I’ve had my blog (which I started in 2008!) so that says something in itself. To be honest, I’m watching it more out of habit than a gripping storyline because with this show, anything goes and I’m certain the writers just hop on social media and go against the tide. Eyes. Rolling. Everywhere. And heads, apparently ;) Regardless of that, if you’ve not spotted season 7 yet, get caught up!Ero-Manga Sensei
A rather sheepish admission from me regarding this particular one, but sometimes you just need a light-hearted, slice-of-life anime to tide you over. I’m really struggling to focus on anything at the moment (shows or otherwise) but Ero-Manga Sensei has me laughing, holding my breath… All sorts. The plot revolves around a light novelist who works alongside an illustrator on erotic fiction - only he then finds out the secret illustrator is his new little sister! It’s such a farfetched story but really ‘classic anime’, if you get me.One Piece
Although I’ve seen Bleach and the majority of Naruto, an anime that I haven’t properly watched is One Piece. I know, I’m a terrible person. My boyfriend’s all-time favourite, however, is One Piece and so I’ve taken it upon me to attempt to get caught up with 750+ episodes. I’m on 72 at the time of writing - wish me luck!Kardashian
On one of my late night perusals of Netflix, I came across newly released documentary Kardashian. The hour-long special revolves around Rob Kardashian and his role in the much publicised O.J. Simpson trial and is a great watch if you’ve recently watched the People vs. O.J. Simpson series, also on Netflix.I’m sure there are plenty of other things that I’ve missed out (I’m addicted) and I’m just about to delve headfirst into the newest season of Orange Is The New Black, but please tell me what you’re watching, lately.
What I’m Watching Lately
12.6.17 Over the May Bank Holiday weekend, I got up to: nothing. I enjoyed a glorious two-day weekend of watching various anime series and Netflix dramas in an equally glorious chain and regretted almost nothing. And then on Monday at 8am, I was back at my desk in true freelancer style, cursing myself for having been so unproductive over the weekend. I finished up an anime series that I started a billion years ago and started a couple of other ones - and here’s a little rundown of all that’s whizzed past my eyes, lately:Master of None
