What Fun I Had on My Day off from Blogging!

By Simone Design Blog @HomeSpire

Thursday was my day off. It was my day to rediscover the outside world! No working on blog posts or interacting with social media outlets. I almost never do that except when traveling (but even then I usually post something).

I began the day with a Pilates class and from there I just kept going well into the evening. I briefly checked Facebook and my e-mails every couple of hours, but other than that it was a day to focus on me. I didn’t even take pictures for my blog while I was out! There is a part of me that regrets that now, but on Thursday it wasn’t in my thought process.

First stop was World Market, where I saw a mirror that caught my eye and I kept circling back to it. I didn’t buy the mirror because I couldn’t imagine how to fit it into my existing home decor. I didn’t leave empty handed, however: I bought two cushions for our sofa.

Then it was onto Target, where I went to their home goods section. I’m sure their cameras were focused on me because I kept putting together pieces from their Threshold line, which I really love. I ended buying a vase for my vignette. I thought might match the table lamp, picture frame and glass candleholder (which contains potpourri instead of a candle). I found some gorgeous yellow and red tulips. The purple iris gives me some contrasting colors. It goes well with the landscaped painting above the vignette.

Another store I visited was Pier1. I was blinded by all the bright colors there! Wow! They’re in a spring and Easter decorating mood.

I saw some baskets that I’m considering for the pantry re-organization.

Afterwards I went to the Container Store, where I mentally organized my whole house. They just know how to tease me with products that I didn’t even know I wanted. My second to last stop was Barnes and Noble. I spent a good while in there looking for ideas on what books to download to my Kindle. It was so nice to be inside a bookstore for a change. I forgot what that felt like.

Finally, I ended my day at the mall nearby my home and treated myself to an early dinner at Legal Seafood’s Happy Hour with lobster sliders and a glass of chardonnay. Yum! After that, I bought myself some black patent leather pumps. They had my name written all over them!
