In the Pennsylvania statehouse yesterday, the ranking Republican on a committee hearing a proposal to make English the "official" language was unable to allow a member to ask a question because she had the radical idea that she could frame her question in a review of the constitutionality of the bill, before asking her question. She had 2 minutes to ask, she got about 30 seconds before the Republican leader cut off her microphone.

America, when a party has to win by silencing dissent, it is not an American party, it is a party of brutes, bent on winning at any cost and bent on forcing it's opposition into the corner, if not into the shadow.
That is what the face of modern conservatism looks like, and it's appalling.
