Welcome to Tiyo Craft Kitchen & Bar, an Escolta-Inspired Restaurant Tailored to Good Taste

"We need to patronize our own. So ang food natin, ang ingredients natin at kung ano yung mga sikat na ingredients sa different regions iyon ang matitikman niyo sa Tiyo's," Ed Salvador, co-owner of Tiyo Craft Kitchen & Bar.

True to his word, Tiyo Craft Kitchen & Bar serves regionally sourced and carefully curated menu adding their own modern twist. Some interesting dishes the modern Filipino gastropub offers are Inihaw na Liempo Sinigang, Corned Beef Kalderata and many more!

So even though they are quietly hidden on the second floor of CKB Centre in Tomas Morato corner Scout Rallos Quezon City, every step you take is worth it. Or, you can take the elevator like what my foodie friends (#WeLoveToEatPH and #SaanSaPH) and I did. 🙂

Escolta-Inspired Restaurant

And when you do, simply turn right when you alight from the lift. There you will see Tiyo Craft Kitchen & Bar's welcoming scene which consists of their bright logo in front of a green grass wall, an Escolta Mural on the side and a basic Filipino style living room.

Once you enter, you'll be transported to the old Manila which is quite cool, to be honest. The post-war Escolta-type motif combined with industrial elements blends well making the place relaxed and aesthetically pleasing.

Impeccable Local menu

The dishes they served are all good but as always, there are those that captured my heart and would love my family and friends to try, too. First on my list is Tiyo's Recommendation and well, mine too! And that is the Inihaw na Liempo Sinigang.

Inihaw na liempo or grilled pork belly and sinigang na baboy or pork in sour broth/ tamarind soup are a classic Pinoy favourite. When you combine these two wonderful dishes, you'll get a medley of flavours you'll never forget.

Second is the Corned Beef Kaldereta. What I like about this dish is the taste and most importantly tenderness of the beef. It's really a big issue for me because I always dine with my abuelita (lola). So no matter how delicious a dish is, if the meat is tough then it ruins everything. But not Tiyo's Corned Beef Kaldereta!

Last is their dessert! I love the basic turon but once in awhile, I would love to enjoy a different version. Tiyo's Turron ala Mode Turron or banana fritters with Bataan gabi ice cream topped with caramel drizzle is amazing. It's the perfect dessert to end a lovely meal.

Home of Local Craft Beer

Now if you're there after hours with your friends or colleagues, you'll be happy to know that Tiyo Craft Kitchen & Bar has a vast selection of craft cocktails using premium local ingredients. With a nine-tap craft beer system and the biggest collection of craft beer in Quezon City, Tiyo has become the Home of Local Craft Beer in the North.

They have "Blame It on the Barako" which is a delightful mix of coffee liqueur, cream, coconut rum and orange. Another is "Pedro's Uprising", a mix of basi, honey, lemon and brandy. Last is the "Jai Ala" which is a spiced cocktail with a mix of white rum mix of basil, white rum, brandy-infused cinnamon, tea, calamansi, and honey.

If you're not much of a drinker, Tiyo Craft Kitchen & Bar has a home-brewed special iced tea WITH edible rice straws. Yes, you read that right. 🙂 Promise, I'm not kidding. In fact, I did try it and it tastes like pasta. Just make sure to use it to stir the drink and wait a couple more minutes. Then start eating from the bottom where it's much easier to take a bite.

So the question now is, will I come back? With wonderful dishes and a private place, I would love to come back as a customer. But this time I am bringing my family or friends over for a lovely meal.

By the way, they have ongoing promos such as:

  • Buy 1 Take 1 on all craft cocktail drinks until the end of July
  • Get 3 Gin Tonic drinks for only PHP280
  • Unli Wine every Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for PHP799
  • Ladies Night Wednesdays, free craft cocktail drink of your choice
Live entertainment every Tuesday to Saturday night.
