Welcome Backstage!
So one week before my next show, We rehears the models on the catwalk. We organised the order of the show, how long the show will last, where the model will stop and pose, what music we will play etc etc. Thats without even mentioning the creation of the collections and the choosing & fitting models!
Thanks to a lot of behind the scenes work and a lot of people giving up their free time on a Tuesday evening, we can achieve a great show.
Most people never get to see this side of the catwalk, so let me tell you: its hard work! Its like a big stressful party though. Everyone is working hard but in good spirits, getting organised for the big event. Its tiring but fun and everyone leaves on a high despite longing for their bed. This is one of the best bits of being a fashion designer. Being surrounded by your colleagues & friends, with everyone coming together to produce a work of art!
What you dont see in these quick Phone snaps that I took; is the army of people running around like headless chickens getting everyone prepared. Then it all starts again next Tuesday when we arrive in the afternoon with Hair, Make-up, Dressing and the Public to contend with, not to mention the house decorators, who will transform the space into a chic salon fit for any fashion week.
FYI: Im showing Next Tuesday in a competition with other designers which has a really awesome prize, so Fingers crossed people!
