My older daughter summed up my feelings on the usefulness of MPAA ratings very nicely the other day while the kids and I were watching Planes, Trains & Automobiles, our go-to family Thanksgiving movie. "This movie is rated R for F bombs, and I saw a PG-13 rated movie in which they brutally murdered a cat!"
