EIffel Tower from the Montparnasse Tower, Paris, France
One evening, we decided to see the view off the top of the Montparnasse Tower, a 56-story building in Montparnasse. It is an unattractive piece of boring business architecture (I’d hate to work in the building because you can tell by its design that not all the offices have windows) and is quite out of place in the neighborhood. One of the jokes about the building is that the reason the view from its terrace is so spectacular is because in the Montparnasse Tower is the only place in Paris where you can’t see the Montparnasse Tower.
We didn’t know that the Eiffel Tower was lit at night. As we were watching the last bit of sunset behind it, the Eiffel Tower suddenly lit up, its silhouette glowing as the sunlight faded.
