Lichen on rock at Horsethief Butte, Washington
I took this picture while rock scrambling over the weekend at Horsethief Butte in Washington State. I am not sure why, but I have always loved looking at lichen. Perhaps, it’s because they add a pop or color to an otherwise average-looking stone, giving it a bit of flair, as if someone has flung a paintbrush at it to see what the pattern will be as the paint drips down the rock.
