Wow you guys! What a crazy but super fun weekend we had! I truly love weekends that are low key, fun but also a bit productive and that's exactly what the past 72 hours were for our little family of four! So here's what we did!
Saturday morning I took both kids to Lily's gymnastics while Zach stayed back and got the house ready for guests coming over later that afternoon. I really love watching my daughter laugh, tumble and truly enjoy gymnastics with her new friends for 45 minutes. Although it can be super early to get everyone dressed and out the door by 8:30am, it's one of the moments I've tend to look forward to for an early morning. Thank goodness I'm an early bird though ;)
Zach did a few errands and we both got our home ready for our friends to stop by later that afternoon. Thankfully I was able to get about a half hour nap in before the madness began. Landon has been really working hard to push his first tooth out which meant a really late night and early morning hours for him and I to try and get settled. Poor bud.
After the three of us took a nap, we got ready and welcomed all our friends over for the big game. What's the big game you ask? Being that Zach and I both went to school in Iowa and some of our best friend's went to school at Ohio, we decided to throw a rival party with them. For the past two year since we met, we've raised the stakes as to what each winning team would have to do if the other team won. This year we really made it fun by saying the winning team would have to wear the opposing team's jerseys in a CHRISTMAS CARD this year and send it to family members.
Zach and I were actually super nervous going into the game because we weren't sure how Iowa would do. Well- if you all watched it, right off we scored a touchdown within the first 30 seconds of the game! This streak continued throughout the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter and we could not have truly been more excited or shocked that it turned out the way we did. Our friends were extremely good sports ( as were our kids ha ) and we'll be sharing this great Christmas card for years to come when we take it in a few weeks ha!
I can't say it enough how blessed we feel to have such an amazing core group of friends down here when we don't have any family members. They really do feel like family and the laughs, memories and moments we share always make us going to be feeling so lucky to have such incredible, heartwarming, grateful and gracious individuals in our life.
Sunday morning should have been one of sleeping in thanks to the time change ( ha what #timechange! ) Both my kids were up and ready to go at 5:30am. I let Zach sleep in for a few more hours while I made the kids breakfast, got laundry done and put our home back together. Landon actually passed out in his high chair right after breakfast so I was able to type this post up while making Lily homemade pancakes and enjoying a mug of coffee. Phew!
I also want to give a big shout out to my little sister whose birthday it is today! Happy Birthday Aunt Mo Mo! We love you!
