I am in LOVE with today’s wedding! So modern, soooo chic, a gorgeous couple and a stunning inner city setting with some very unique photos in quirky spots, and OH THAT DRESS. Beautifully captured by the VERY talented Auckland based photographer Joanna Wickham, these images are oozing with fabulous inspiration for a unique inner city wedding. Enjoy!

The couple…

Nick is an Architect. Amy a Physiotherapist

The proposal…

A romantic proposal on a hayfield just outside Matakana. Think roses with jars, freshly painted white pallets and my dream ring designed by me! Nick off course, was wearing a tailored suit with his sister shooting the most beautiful shots from behind tree

The inspiraton…

We have always loved the exposed brick, concrete look . So we decided to go for urban New York. We loved the architecture of James and the beauty of a city shoot with brick, neon lights and everything nice!

That favouite moment…

Standing at the aisle enjoying everything we had put together – the singing items, décor, and for our reception, we had the best meal we have ever tasted! It was so satisfying sitting there taking in all your hard work, stress, and organising, knowing it was worth it!

On marriage…

Yes, Nick and I both met at church and our close friend, Pastor Mike, was able to take our wedding. We loved being able to incorporate some traditions such as communion. Marriage means doing life with your best friend! It’s working as a team to figure out and achieve in this thing called life. We both understood that’s it’s hard work, effort and a lot of selflessness, but it’s worth it if you can have fun while doing it!

Valueable advice…

Just remember that as much as you want your day perfect, it normally doesn’t happen. So if something doesn’t go as planned, just let it slide and move on. It’s not worth stressing over the little details that you cannot change. Try to appreciate and enjoy all your hard work and bask in all the love and happiness of your guests!

The dress…

I went to many stores in Auckland and tried on a range of dresses. Much to my disappointment, I looked like a wedding cake in most of them! I was browsing the internet one day and fell in love with the Carol Hannah Spring 2014 collection! I took a risk and emailed a designer on Etsy, Angel Bridal from Hong Kong to see if she could attempt a similar style. I was so nervous because I had no other choice if it didn’t work! Well… 10 weeks later my dress arrived and I was in love all over again!! It fitted like a glove, and was beautifully made!

On DIY…

We bought vintage books for our centrepieces, spray painted them silver and white and did a dry transfer on the top of each with French love quotes. We pretty much handmade and designed a lot of our stuff – invitations, order of service, bouquets, centrepieces.

I describe my style as ‘romantic reportage’, my photos are full of emotion and beauty, the unexpected and the delightful. I love capturing ethereal light and happy moments and I am always looking to capture the spirit of the occasion in a simple and beautiful way.
