Wedding Details: The Dress

By Sammycx @sammycx
So this is the first in my wedding series and I’m so excited to be able to share my wedding with you!

I have been married 6 months already, I was married on 26thApril 2014 at St Mary’s Church in Sawston and the reception was at Chippenham Park near Cambridge. My first wedding post will be on the dress!I kind of had an idea on a dress I loved when I first got engaged; I originally loved the Ellis Bridals 11135. We were wedding planning for 3 years so after a while it changed a few times!I’ve never been into the big princess dresses; I always loved the fishtail fitted dresses, something a bit different.Finding the right dress shop:I searched for wedding dress shops in my local area that stocked Ellis Bridals, I loved so many of their dresses. I found Fleur De Lys Bridal in Saffron Walden, they had some really nice styles on their website and had good reviews, I felt really nervous about dress shopping and kept putting it off, I left it quite late in the end didn’t end up dress shopping until November 2013.I was lucky enough to win £500 towards a dress which was so exciting! I feel so lucky to have won. Winning also gave me the kick I needed to get dress shopping! Visiting the shop:

I visited the shop with my mum, sister & nan and I had the best time and some great memories of the whole experience of dress shopping.
The ladies who work at Fleur De Lys Bridal are so lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough to help me. They were very honest with what suited me and what didn't. When I walked in I was greeted by two very friendly ladies. I chose around 7 dresses I wanted to try on, I had written down a few styles I wanted to try so the ladies helped me find them and also suggested styles I might like. I went shopping knowing what dress I wanted and I tried that dress on first and after trying on around 7 dresses, I chose the first dress I tried on.The dress:
I chose the Ellis Bridals 11368, a beautiful full length lace fish tail dress with lace arms and a cut out back detail. I felt amazing in it and I just knew it was perfect from the moment I saw it.
I then chose a long length veil with small diamantes all over, I felt that with the cut out back detailing of the dress, that a long length veil would look better than a short veil, they flowed nicely together and could still see the cut out back detailing through the veil, they just looked perfect together! The shoes:
As my color theme was pastel pink, I always knew I wanted pink shoes. I found a stunning pair of embellished peep toe sling backs in Debenhams in a beautiful dusk pink colour, they were perfect (but really hurt my feet on the wedding day!)

I’ll be doing weekly posts on different details of my wedding such as bridesmaids, hair, grooms, venue, food, photography, videography etc.  So I hope you enjoy my weekly wedding series!

Below I have some photos of my dress taken by the very talented Natasha Thompson.
