Wedding Bouquets with Sunflowers

Wedding bouquets with sunflowers

Weddings are happy occasions and there is no happier flower than the sunflower! With its bright petals and dark contrasting centre, it really feels like this flower is smiling back at you. Sunflowers are also the symbol of loyalty, adoration and strength which are all qualities we want to embrace on our big day.

For a bridal bouquet that is bursting in colour, you can combine some sunflowers with apricot-coloured freesia, pink astilbe, and some sea holly for that colour and textural contrast. Some of these flowers are only available during certain seasons but you can always ask your florist about suitable substitutes if need be. Don't forget to add some lush foliage to make those flowers really 'pop'.

A simple yet elegant option is to use a single, large suflower and pair it with a couple of bright orange gerbera daisies, some deep purple dahlias, and a few hypericum berries for good measure. Not only do the berries add greenery but the leaves on their stems will help fill up your bouquet. This is a smaller bouquet with a big impact. It is perfect for brides wearing more fitted dresses with little to no ruffles.

If you are looking for something truly unique and eclectic by design, then you will love the way sophisticated flowers pair with somewhat rustic elements. For instance, you can use some bright sunflowers and pair them with light purple and peach-coloured roses. Add some green button poms (chrysanthemums) and dried amaranthus. You can also add some smaller fillers in between. Ask your florist about what is in season and try to pair something light in colour so that it contrasts the rich colours in the bouquet.

Blue and yellow look wonderful together while purple and blue complement one another in the most unexpected ways. If you want a truly bright and bubbly bouquet, then pair your sunflowers with some teddy bear sunflowers, purple globe amaranths, and gorgeous blue delphiniums. Add some medium and small white flowers in between for that final touch of floral beauty and you're all set!

The best part about sunflowers is the fact that they can be paired with just about any other type of flower. Their bright yellow colour makes them an excellent match when paired with purple, blue, and even pink flowers.
