Website Builder Review: WebStarts

Posted on the 11 February 2013 by Cw Highlights @CW_JenniferB

Last week, the up-and-coming website builder, WebStarts, contacted us requesting that we add a review of their service onto our comparison website, ChooseWhat.com. At first I was a bit skeptical since we get a lot of similar requests by services that have no business being –well—in business. WebStarts, however, is not your run-of-the-mill software as a service (Saas) company.

WebStarts First Impression

One thing I noticed right off the bat is that they don’t have the best-looking logo and their homepage design is fairly bland. While this might scare off the average user, as someone who’s reviewed these types of services for nearly three years I’ve noticed that slick, flashy sites are usually hiding something; whether that’s a lack of features, poor customer service, or a high price.

You can tell the folks at Webstarts are serious about supplying a quality service by the detailed information they’ve included throughout the site. With 100+ stylish templates to create your own website, a completely free starter version, a relatively low monthly fee on the other versions, Webstarts means business.

Users get access to hundreds of features with WebStarts’ most comprehensive builder, Pro+, which is relatively cheap at $7.16 per month. Both the Pro and Pro+ versions come with a free domain registration, advertisement credits, and HTML access along with many other valuable professional tools. One downside, however, is that the free website builder version comes with a very small number of these tools and there is not a free trial offered in order to let the user try out the additional features before paying for them.

Overall, I really like WebStarts’ website builder and will be adding a more complete review of the service to ChooseWhat in the next week or so.
