The Ragama Police yesterday found several weapons from a house in Ragama Peralanda belonging to a police inspector working in a Police station in the South.

The police found four swords, a manna knife, a foreign made pistol, four rounds   of ammunition for 09 mm type weapons, a magazine of ammunition for that type of firearms, eight rounds of 0.45 type ammunition, three rounds of 12 bore type shotgun ammunition and 25 empty ammunition cells.

Police also found a national identity card and a bank card belonging to a resident of Kalaela Theresa Mawatha among the weapons. Police was informed about these weapons by the brother of the police inspector who is a businessman. The police say that there has been a land dispute between the businessman’s brother and the police inspector for some time and there have been disagreements between the two. Police say that the mother of these two brothers died recently. Investigations have revealed that the police inspector took the mother’s body to his home in Ganemulla and performed the last rites.

Both mother and father have been residing in the house in Peralanda. The businessman’s brother saw these weapons while cleaning the house after his mother’s last rites and informed the police. Police hope to record a statement from the police inspector brother in this regard as well.
