WHAT I THOUGHTThis is my first time reading the author.
We Were Liars sucker punched me in the gut and I still haven't got my breath back. I'm struggling to write a coherent review because my head is all over the place. There is a twist towards the end of this book, one I never saw coming and I'm still reeling from. I love twists. I love twists when they surprise me. We Were Liars has one of the best - and most shocking twists I've ever read. When the truth is revealed about the Sinclair children I'd no idea what was really going on. OMG! Well done for knocking the stuffing out of me. I loved Cadence as a narrator. She is broken because of her accident two years before and trying to bring back her memory. There are two types of unreliable narrators - the first type is someone who intentionally twists the truth and the second is someone who is unable to reveal the whole truth because of their circumstances. Cadence is the second type due to her memory loss from the accident. We Were Liars is a great example of unreliable narration. I liked Cadence's voice as she tries to recover her memory. When the truth is revealed my heart broke for her and I cried a little. Her story is incredibly sad. We Were Liars is brilliant and highly recommended.
