We love wallpaper – we’ve always loved wallpaper – but now we have the choice of murals as well the decisions are endless! So many delicious designs to choose from. We’ve picked out a few of our favourite murals that can completely change the look of your interior vibe and help you to create the home of your dreams. Swedish company Rebel Walls have over 12 million images in their image bank – and if that’s not enough choice you can send in your own image to have it made into your own unique wall mural. Phew, that would take some looking through! Needless to say, I haven’t been through that lot, but I have picked out a few that inspire me and make me itch to redecorate a room.
‘Battered Wall’– A rich, atmospheric mural resembling peeling layers of paint and distressed walls to give the look of an old, and much loved, interior.
The site is so easy to use as well – just hover over an image and a room setting with said mural pops up, (also a brief description of the design) so you can get a taste of how it looks in situ, which is a big bonus as it’s so hard to imagine how a design will look on the walls. And – an even bigger bonus here – you don’t have to click on each one to get a feel for the design, so lots quicker to look through the range!
‘Perspective Manoir’– To make believe you reside in a crumbling old manoir then this is the one for you – complete with faux windows, a view of trees, and layers of peeling paint.
As the murals are made to fit your specifications you have to measure your walls and order accordingly. I haven’t tried it myself but it looks fairly simple and there are plenty of instructions on line for hanging the paper. Rebel Walls make a donation from every unique order made to Habitat for Humanity, a charity which helps people in deprived communities across the world to build their own homes.
‘Bleached Baroque’– To quote the tagline from Rebel Walls website “For many years, voices were heard echoing down this hall. Hang this mural in your house and you might find traces of these voices on your walls, as it instantly adds mystery, depth, and character to any space.” Shades of gothic there but very ethereal!
‘Cloud Puff’– The perfect backdrop for a restful night’s sleep, or for a calming, zen like space anywhere in the home.
‘Sea of Trees Forest Mural Wallpaper’
And, on the same subject, but a different company (Murals Wallpaper) one of Amelia’s picks is ‘Sea of Trees Forest Mural Wallpaper’. How fabulous is this bedroom with a mural of moody, atmospheric trees in the dawn mist? Quite spectacular really, but you would need to have high ceilings to do it justice.
So many choices, and each fabulous in their own way, be it an Amazonian jungle, a floral extravaganza, a library or wood panelling – which one would you go for? I think the blank map of the world would be fab in a children’s room for them to fill in and learn global location.
