3 ways to style slip-ons. Good morning! Well isn’t this a nostalgic surprise and throwback?! After hearing a couple of comments reminiscing about this old series, I thought I’d finally bring it back. For newer readers, I started Ways to Wear in 2011 to coincide with Frugal February; it replaced wishlist Wednesday and basically took one item a week and styled it in three different ways. I’m not sure why I stopped them, I’ll throw it out there that “real life took over”. And here we are 4 years later.
Look #1: Downtime Dressing
When it comes to downtime dressing, slip-ons are the one. I see them as a step up from the Vans that we all wore as teens as perhaps still do – let’s face it, they’re one and the same. I often like teaming my slip-ons with Zara twill trousers (thanks for introducing me to these Mandy!), a strappy River Island camisole and my cosy cosy Uniqlo flannel shirt. Twice the checks but it kinda works. I also pop on my Mulberry Bayswater Shoulder bag for a little satchel-ness.
Look #2: Sugar Coated
Something a tiny bit girlier and an ensemble that I crack out on Wednesdays to lift my week is this candy coloured one. My light wash Levi’s denim shirt tucked in to my pastel pink River Island jacquard skirt and then spruced up with a statement necklace, scattering of stackable rings and my Alexa.
Look #3: Get Graphic
I wore this on my blog a few weeks ago and traffic-dodging aside, you guys seemed to like it! I own more graphic tees than recommended but I really like them for paring down my more dressy looks (a.k.a. how I dress 99.9% of the time), hence why I added a little skater skirt, a tiny bag and my beloved leather jacket. I think this is a little more devil-may-care but works perfectly for weekends where you’re still doing things with real humans so you need to look presentable.
Which is your favorite look? And as before – this feels seriously weird – let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to feature next time.
