Another fountain with historical importance is the Lindenhof fountain which was installed in 1912 as an ode to the brave women of the city who protected it from being captured by the Austrian army in the 13th century.
The fountain at Zurich main station is something you cannot miss. Named after the railroad pioneer Alfred Escher, this one has been in operation since 1889.
