Watch Me Paint My Abstract Art

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

I wanted to make a video showing me painting my abstract art for a long time.  This summer my granddaughter Rachel took a video of me working on a 24" x 24" canvas using a brush and palette knife.

My instructions to Rachel were to get only the canvas in the camera, not any part of me beyond my hand and arm.  She managed pretty well, and I was able to edit out most of the scenes where I leaned too far into the picture.

We did another painting/video session a week later, as I continued work on the same canvas.  But I realized when I was editing the video that this would end up being too long for anyone to want to watch.  So I used just the first painting session, and edited out all the clips where I am selecting tubes of paint and taking the caps on and off.  That got it down to under four minutes.

You can watch it here on Youtube:  Watch Me Paint Abstract Art.

Here's what the canvas looked like at the end of the video:

  Canvas #152, 24" x 24" acrylic on canvas.
