Amazon Studios has released the official trailer for the Beautiful Boy, based off the bestselling father-son memoirs by David and Nic Sheff.

In the film, the father and son are figuring out how to handle their relationship in the midst of the son’s drug addiction.

In the memoir, David writes how his son experimented with meth during college, and eventually became an addict.

Starring Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet, Beautiful Boy tells the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years.

In theaters October 12th.
