Wassies NFT costs increase as Singapore crypto tweet Lore-themed hotel opens

A Wassie-themed hotel suite costs $129 per night as of Monday.

The weekend saw the debut of a boutique hotel in Singapore with a concept based on a well-known Crypto Twitter character, which increased the floor pricing of the By Wassies non-fungible token (NFT) collection by more than 20%.

The Hotel by Wassies is a popular “Wassie by Wassies” NFT collection-themed hotel located at 5 Hongkong Street in Singapore, including frog-themed rooms, accessories, a cafe, and other facilities.

This isn’t an April Fool’s prank. Hotel by Wassies, a pop-up hotel, will open in March 2023 and will remain open until September 2023.

The hotel includes 55 rooms on six stories, 49 of which are furnished in purple colours inspired by Wassie and six of which have artwork made in collaboration with other projects and themed around “Wassies & Friends.”

The hotel, according to its creators, is a means of enhancing public awareness of the Wassie brand. According to the Wassie collection’s regional Twitter account, “while we continue to research ways to deploy the byWassies brand IP in all shapes and forms, Hotel by Wassies is a [small] Wassie step in bringing crypto culture into the real world.”

The Wassie website still shows a room at the hotel for $129 per night as of Monday. Wassie NFT holders can get up to 20% off hotel rooms and 69% off beverages at the on-site cafe, Coffee by Wassies.

The floor price of the Wassie NFT collection has risen 20% in the previous two days, reaching 0.5 ether (ETH) as of this writing, up from 0.33 ether on Saturday. According to OpenSea data, the Ethereum-based collection has over 12,000 individual NFTs with over 2,3000 unique holders.

Wassies is a made-up comic that grew in popularity as a result of the anonymous Crypto Twitter account inversebrah, which is notable for chronicling memes, jokes, and awful views primarily about the crypto community.

On Twitter, Inversebrah and other self-described wassie accounts adopt a unique lexicon that contributes to their appeal. Words like “wen,” “gud,” and “koin” have quickly gained traction in the community and have had a huge impact on online crypto culture.
