Forty students of Sri Lanka Technological Campus in Padukka who visited the Hanthana mountain were hospitalized following a wasp attack.

They had visited Hanthana after visiting the Peradeniya University on Saturday after University authorities declared an open day for the public to view the University and the rare collection of books and paintings it contains. According to the police, there are 27 male and 13 female students among the hospitalised. According to a message received by the police emergency hotline a search operation was launched and steps were taken to bring the injured to the Kandy National Hospital by ambulances.
