The spectacular Batman universe is growing, and the growth is awesome. DC's popular comic book has had several transformations over the years. It was a campy show starring Adam West. Then it captured movie-goers' imagination as an epic movie franchise. Now it's back as a live-action TV series Gotham, which is currently in its second season.
The young detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and veteran Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) continues to fight crime in the corrupt city of Gotham. Gordon's moral compass is tested, and he continues to gain the trust of the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).
After the conclusion of season one revealed that Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin, portrayed by Robin Lord Taylor) had successfully gone into power in Gotham's underworld, viewers will be able to learn more about the city's other villains, such as Edward Nygma (E. Nygma, The Riddler, portrayed by Cory Michael Smith), Selina Kyle (the alluring Catwoman, portrayed by Camren Bicondova), and Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Jim Gordon's increasingly unstable ex-wife.
For leading actor Ben McKenzie, Gotham's second season will reveal a few surprises. He quips, "There are big changes for Jim. When we pick up the story in season two, there’s a reversal of fortune where Mr Cobblepot [played by Robin Lord Taylor] is the king of Gotham and Mr Gordon is at the lowest he’s ever been. He’s been punished for saving Falcone’s life and foiling Loeb’s plan, so he’s a traffic cop and he’s pretty bitter about it. But as always in Gotham, things change and things can get reversed really quickly."
