Wanda and Sully – Release News
Wanda and Sully, the latest high-school comedy-mystery created by Scott Day, is now available worldwide on digital platforms and disc. This sharp, engaging film brings the chaotic worlds of politics and high school hierarchy together, promising audiences a thrilling and humorous journey.
Set against the backdrop of a seemingly ordinary high school, Wanda & Sully follows two unlikely allies—smart and popular Wanda and rebellious, free-thinking Sully—as they team up to investigate the questionable activities of their Student Representative Council (SRC) president, Jonathan. What begins as a quest to uncover embezzlement quickly unravels into a deeper, more sinister mystery that could shake the foundations of their school community.
The journey of Wanda and Sully from concept to screen is a story of passion, dedication, and artistic courage. Initially conceived as a web series in 2016, the script was influenced by themes of political intrigue and social media manipulation. The film’s screenplay was co-written by Scott Day and Joshua Marchant, drawing inspiration from classics like Election, The Social Network, Citizen Kane, and TV shows such as 21 Jump Street and Community.
Filming took place over 17 days between December 2020 and February 2021, utilizing local settings, including the same school used for Summer Heights High. The project was funded through a combination of personal savings, a Geelong Waterfront Film grant, and crowdfunding efforts. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team remained committed, with many cast and crew members hailing from Geelong.
Wanda & Sully is now available worldwide for digital viewing on YouTube Movies and Google Play. Physical copies can be purchased through Amazon and Walmart.
