Wai Yu Mun Ching, DLF Phase 4, Gurgaon

By Rohit Dassani

Found this place from Zomato, situated in DLF Phase 4, it competes with a lot of other restaurants near by. For a 20 seater restaurant the decor was boring. Wai Yu Mun Ching is painted in white, with only the lamps being colorful. Recently the restaurant had an make over and the seating capacity has been increased. The service was good, though.

I straight away went for the combo meals. The Veg meal had 4 fried wontons, a soft drink, a fried rice or noodle and a gravy of your choice. The price of this combo is extremely competitive. The Wontons were not that great except that they tasted like fried papads. The stuffing for the wonton was very light as if nothing was put in their. But the fried rice was extremely good and had cracked pepper in it, which gave a very nice after flavor.

I went for the Hakka Gravy and it was delicious. Perfect is what I can say. Had almost all the vegetables and with correct consistency. It went perfect with the fried rice. Also had the Shanghai Curry which is a sweet and sour gravy. The Hot Garlic gravy is almost like Shanghai Gravy but with fried Garlic on top. But Hakka, no doubt is the best! We tried the fruit beer and it was good.

I have been to Wai Yu Mun Ching so many times and every experience has been awesome. In the most recent visit we ordered the Fried Rice and the Panner in Duel Sauce. The fried rice of this place is awesome as usual. The Rice was so flaky and smells fresh. The cracked pepper as an after taste just enhances the flavors. The Panner in Duel Sauce, had chunks of Panner in 2 separate sauce. The Panner’s were deep fried. One of the sauce was Schzewan sauce while the other was made from spinach. Loved this dish.
