Wagner Cove is a very popular location for a small wedding or elopement. It is tucked away into a shady corner of the Lake, right on the water. It is perhaps the most private location in Central Park for a wedding ceremony, whilst still being very close to the middle of Central Park and to the entrances. The steps that lead down to it are hidden between trees, but there is a sign. There is a way of accessing it without going down the steps, but it is over an uneven pathway and the ground surrounding the gazebo is uneven, so it may not be suitable for everyone.
Many people may not even know that it is there, so there will be very few passers-by at a wedding at Wagner Cove. It can be seen from the other side of the Lake, and this allows an opportunity for a beautiful photo of the couple in the structure from that vantage point.
Wagner Cove features a rustic wooden shelter which is useful to cover the couple and officiant in case of any light rain on your wedding day, or it will provide shade from bright sunshine. It has benches, but would only fit up to four people inside. In the summer, if you stand in the gazebo you can see turtles in the water. The original shelter dated from Central Park’s early years, when rowing boats would pick up passengers at one of six shelters that dotted the edge of the Lake and drop them off at another.
Below are some wedding photographs from Wagner Cove. These photos are intended to show the location in as much useful detail as possible for any couples considering a wedding there. Please feel free to email me, if you would like any further advice or information on this location.
