Story: Voyagers starts as a new mission to send people through space is designed. One that will need a group of astronauts to be born, raised, live and reproduce in space on the journey. Where their grandchildren will be the ones to repopulate the planet.
When the leader of the young crew Richard (Farrell) gets killed, the young crew must elect a new leader. Christopher (Sheridan) being selected, but it doesn’t take long before the crew start rebelling against his orders. Leading to the creation of a divide in paranoia, with one side believing there to be an alien onboard.
Thoughts on Voyagers
Voyagers is a sci-fi thriller that will show how a young group of people will need to learn fast to survive. When they are left to fend for themselves in an enclosed environment. Where they start to find themselves turning on each other after being released from the confines of their medicines.
This is a film that feels like it wants to be Lord of the Files in space. Mixed with trying to be edgy like The Thing. It does end up falling into the basics of questioning human nature. Instead of giving us a more in depth look at the bigger discussion going on.
The young cast do well with what they have to work with, getting the scenes to shine when called upon. By the end of the conflict, most of what is seen, will leave us less interested in the bigger conversation on offer.
Final Thoughts – Voyagers has the bright ideas, but falls into the typical outcome.
