Vote for Sookie Stackhouse’s Best Love Interest with TV Guide

TV Guide wants to know who Sookie Stackhouse’s (Anna Paquin) best love interest is! Of the five suitors that have tempted to woo the character in the last six seasons, who does she belong with? Here’s the competition:

Bill Compton
Bill (Stephen Moyer)
has saved Sookie’s life more times than we can count — from Longshadow (Raoul Trujillo), Rene (Michael Raymond-James), etc. But it always goes back to the fact that he was initially contracted by Queen Sophie-Anne (Evan Rachel Wood) to spy on Sookie because she wanted to drain her blood so she could walk in the sun. Sure, he fell for Sookie in the process, but how can you come back from that? Still, everything he’s done throughout the series seems to have been for Sookie’s protection … until he praised Lilith (Jessica Clark) and drank her blood. Ruling: Billith must die!

Sam Merlotte
As owner of Merlotte’s, Sam (Sam Trammell) has cut Sookie a lot of slack over the years — like when she disappears for days on end and doesn’t show up for work. The poor guy has always harbored a crush on Sookie, but that was diminished by Bill’s arrival. That didn’t stop Sam from asking Sookie out on a date, which, again, was ruined by Sam’s incessant hatred of vampires. But he’s always been very protective over Sookie and — Sookie Stackhouse novels SPOILER ALERT — even ends up with her at the end of Charlaine Harris’ series. Ruling: They’ve gone their separate ways. Let’s keep it that way.

Alcide Herveaux
Even though Alcide (Joe Manganiello) initially came into Sookie’s life to repay a favor owed to Eric, the chemistry between them was undeniable. However, his crazy ex Debbie Pelt (Brit Morgan) is the reason why Tara (Rutina Wesley) is now a vampire. Sure, we love Tara as a vampire, but it still means Debbie killed her! But we digress. Alcide showed his loyalty when he helped cover for Sookie, who had murdered Debbie in retaliation. But after the duo hooked up, Eric cleverly glamoured Alcide into not remembering the night and thinking of Sookie as disgusting. Ruling: He’s got Rikki (Kelly Overton), he’s fine.

Eric Northman
From the moment the sexy Sheriff debuted, everyone was smitten by his dark and mysterious side. Naturally, we worried when Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) seemed to be obsessed with her, even going so far as tricking her into drinking his blood so they’d be bound together. He also bought her house to show his dominance over her. After all, he’s always be intrigued by her powers. But when Eric lost his memory, we got to see an entirely new and vulnerable side to him that proved he truly has feelings for Sookie and is very loyal to her. Even though he’s relinquished his ownership over Sookie’s home, it’s clear that he still cares for her deeply. Ruling: Sookie needs to end up with Eric. What? Everyone needs a partner who knows what they want.

Ben Flynn
Sookie literally stumbled upon Ben (Rob Kazinsky), a faerie hybrid like herself, after he was attacked by a vampire in Bon Temps. Even though being with Ben would be the closest thing to her having a normal life, it’s a bit suspicious that he happened upon Sookie just as the mysterious figure Warlow is hunting her down. Ruling: The jury is still out.

Who do you think Sookie belongs with? So far two men have taken the lead. Click here to cast your vote.
