Vivo’s First Folding Smartphone That is Folded x Launched in China, India May Have to Wait Longer

2022 It seems to be a year of innovation and spectacular design for smartphones. The new smartphone has joined the smartphone league that can be folded. Even when the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3, Oppo found N, and Huawei Mate X2 turned the head with their star design, Vivo had launched a smartphone folded in the latest Vivo X fold in China.

Vivo’s X Fold made his debut several months after Oppo, a brand sister, launched Oppo who was very awaited to N. At present, Vivo X Fold with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage valued at CNY 8,999 (around Rs 1,07,214). It also came in a 12GB RAM and 512GB variant at CNY 9,999 (around Rs 1,19,100). The brand plan to launch a device in India is unknown.

Vivo X Fold, folding devices inward, equipped with a 6.53-inch AMOLED screen on the front and open to express the larger 8.03 inch folding display. The outside display has dimensions that are equivalent to ordinary smartphones.

Both screens on an AMOLED smartphone with 120Hz refresh speed and HDR10 capabilities. Also, the LTPO2 panel on this device offers a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1Hz and 120Hz.

Vivo’s latest folding device uses ultra thing schott glass (UTG), the same is used on the fold of the Samsung Galaxy Z. Chinese smartphone brand claims 300,000 folds for hinges. This brand also said that X Fold is the first smartphone that has ever introduced a dual 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner in display.

  • The device runs on Android 12 and is topped by OriginOS
  • 8.03-inch Samsung E5 folding display that has a 2K+ (1,916×2,160 pixels) resolution and a 4:3.55 aspect ratio
  • 6.53-inch cover display that is again a Samsung E5 panel, with a 1,080×2,520 pixels resolution
  • Both screens sport a 120Hz refresh rate
  • The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC along with Adreno 730 GPU and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM
  • The quad rear camera setup includes a 50MP primary sensor with an OIS supported f/1.75 lens, a 48MP ultra-wide shooter, a 12MP portrait sensor, and an 8MP periscope-style super-telephoto lens
  • The device also sports a 16MP selfie camera sensor with an f/2.45 lens
  • It sports a 4,600mAh dual-cell battery with 66W fast wired charging support
  • It comes with an 80W Gallium Nitride (GaN) PD charger along with a 50W Wireless Flash Charging support
  • The device will be available in Black, Blue, Gray

Availability of Vivo X Fold
The latest smartphone from Vivo is exclusively for China as of now. In China, the smartphone will start to go on sale from April 22. However, the details about its global availability are awaited from the brand.
