Feeling festive at Glasgow christmas markets

For me, Christmas isn't really Christmas without a visit to the traditional markets for a warming glass of mulled wine, some tasty goodies and gifts to take home. The Christmas Markets have now returned to George Square and St Enoch Square this year with a wide range of stalls spread across the two locations.

A gaggle of bloggers were invited along to meet the stall holders and check out what's available, with everything from bath bombs to Yorkshire pudding Christmas dinner wraps (I think I've sorted my Christmas day dinner now!) and everything in between.

We started off at the St Enoch Square market with a Christmas dinner wrapped inside a Yorkshire pudding! All of the tasty bits of Christmas dinner were included here. ❤️

Dessert was some exceedingly moreish Dutch pancakes. I'm glad I don't work nearby or I'd be there every day!

What do you have after dessert? Cheese! My fave was the one with ginger bits - zingy. The garlic and herb cheese would be delicious melted on top of some pasta.

Next up, some non-alcoholic mulled wine - you wouldn't guess it was alcohol-free as it still warmed my throat. Try the mulled cider which is cider with Drambuie and mixed spice. Even the most hardened non-whisky drinker will love it (hopefully!).

The bars were certainly cosy. There are lots of places covered from the elements to sit, or stand, with your warming drink - I could get used to this tradition. If you still have some space in your bag, the Makar Gin stall is a twinkly heaven of gin. There are stocking filler gifts as well as full size bottles for the gin lover in your life.

I love German gingerbread, and this one looks pretty. Gingerbread, icing and Glasgow 🙂 How good would this look hanging up on the wall? I wish they had little ones for hanging on the tree though.

If you are trying to be good this Christmas but are looking for a Glasgow gift which doesn't add to the belly, this Glasgow 2017 bauble is one for you. Remember your first Christmas together, your first visit to Glasgow or just another bauble for the tree.

The Christmas Market at George Square was our next stop. Similar stalls but with the added fun of the big wheel. There's family-focused street entertainment here as well as bars and stalls.

No it's not cheese but slices of soap, The smell was fresh and the choice of different types of soap is wide. Their main seller is nettle which is available as Nettle soap, Nettle Shampoo, Nettle Body Wash and Nettle Moisturiser. The soaps are vegan and palm oil free nor are they tested on animals.

After all that healthiness, more chocolate! This time Chocolate Kisses, with lots of different flavour combinations.

It was time for the big wheel, would we be too scared? Would Mr Foodie faint? Up we went.....

What a view. We were above the Sir Walter Scott statue in the middle of the square. After the initial panic of being up high, the view soon won us over.

It looks like a toy town from up here!

We enjoyed meeting the stall holders and getting to see the Christmas Markets, I'd recommend the Big Wheel - if you aren't scared of heights!
