Dear Luke and Leia,
We are taking a getaway to the highland town of Bambito in Chiriqui, Panama, for some relaxation and adventure. This is a very small town in the extreme western part of Panama. Bambito is nestled next to an extinct volcano called Volcan Baru and is actually in a cloud forest section of a tropical rainforest.
Casa Grande hotel
We are staying at Casa Grande, a luxury hotel lying alongside a fast flowing river. It has exquisitely kept gardens, a stunning pool area and a playground for children like you guys. What we like the most is the remoteness of the resort, which allows for inclusion of nature all around.
Gazebo along the lake to sit and read while listening to the waterfall and birds.
One of the many quiet lakes on the property.
Gazebo and entertainment area down by the river.
Horseback riding in Bambito
There’s not much to do in Bambito besides hiking and relaxing. Relaxing this weekend gave us a chance to recover from all the stress in the City but we did make some time for horseback riding. We wished you could have been on the horses with us. You would have enjoyed it. It was fun.
Our team of horses for the day.
Nana was an old pro at it and took off on the horse, never looking back. I, however, had no such luck since it was my first time on a horse. But we both had a blast and I vowed to do it again.
Off they go and Linda never looks back.

Dan, after making it to the top of the mountain. The horse survived.
In the cloud forest
I don’t think that I will soon forget the gardens and flowers that surrounded us this weekend. It was also very different being in the clouds, which added to the romantic feel of our little getaway.
Wild Poinsettia were in abundance at Casa Grande Resort.
Brilliant purple Morning Glory.
Playground along the river keeps children entertained.
Ornately designed gardens incorporate artworks in keeping with the theme.
That is all for now, we will see you two soon.
Love,
Nana and Pap
