In order to raise funds for charity as the 2022 World Cup starts off in Qatar, Visa is launching five NFTs with soccer-themed designs. During the tournament, it will also enable spectators to create their own digital art.

Starting on Tuesday, the company that handles digital payments will auction off five NFTs that include goals by Michael Owen (England), Maxi Rodriguez (Argentina), Carli Lloyd (US), Tim Cahill (Australia), Jared Borgetti (Mexico), and Carli Lloyd (Australia) from the World Cup (Argentina). Each digital item is composed of a variety of colorful loops that change in color in response to each player’s movements as they get closer to the target. The items, which are painted in the player’s national team colors, list the World Cup, the day, and minute the goal was scored as well as the day of the game.

Street Child United is a charity based in the United Kingdom which held its own international soccer tournament for needy kids. in Doha, Qatar’s capital, in October, It will receive 100% of the funds raised from the auction, which is being held in collaboration with Crypto.com running until November 8.

Visa’s senior vice president and head of sponsorships, Andrea Fairchild said “It is a global movement that tackles the widespread stigma that street-connected children face.”

The FIFA Fan Festival will offer a digital pitch where fans can create their own NFTs with the help of Visa during the World Cup. Players will play soccer during four-minute, six-a-side sessions to create their own digital artwork in the colors of their favorite national team. Their actions and aims will be recorded by the interactive pitch, which will then create a unique GIF with wider brushstrokes for more dynamic movements.

“The inspiration behind it is the movement and the flow of the game,” Fairchild said.

When the players leave the field, they can see their digital artwork and select whether they want it to be sent to them as an NFT or a non-NFT digital file for people who live in countries that are not permitted to open accounts on Crypto.com. The NFT version should be in the wallets of those who select it in seven to fourteen days.

The NFT auction and fan experience is Visa’s most recent foray into Web 3. One of the first Fortune 500 companies to buy an NFT was the digital payments company, which spent $150,000 for CryptoPunk #7610 in August 2021.

Fairchild believes that the potential in Web3 are endless and the only thing left to do is choose our place.
