Virtual Exploration: How to Safely Travel the World in 2021

The past year has been awful for the travel industry. From cruises being canceled to museums being forced to close down, many people have not had the opportunity to explore the world. No, many have been stuck at home.

But not all hope is lost. Advances in technology have allowed people to travel the world from their couches. COVID may not be over, but that doesn't mean you have to be stuck watching Netflix. There are opportunities for you to explore the world virtually. Read on to find out how you can do just that.

How to Explore the World Virtually

Take a Virtual Cruise

Nothing compares to the feeling of a cruise-the ocean breeze, the drinks, the feeling of absolute freedom. Being on a cruise has its way of separating you from the world, if only for a week or two. However, COVID has significantly hurt the cruise industry due to cruises being hotspots for past COVID infections.

Fortunately, you can still go on a cruise; only you won't be on the boat. Some cruise liners have been offering free virtual cruises. These virtual cruises offer everything from spectacular vistas to cooking classes. Since most of these virtual cruises are free, there's no reason not to try them at least out.

Watch Live Stream Cameras at Aquariums and Zoos

Nature is beautiful. Aquariums and zoos let people observe nature in proper habitats. So, with COVID causing many of these aquariums and zoos to close for the foreseeable future, many haven't been able to get their fill of nature since the pandemic started.

Not all hope is lost, however. Since the pandemic started, many aquariums and zoos have begun to offer free live streams of various habitats. This way, you can still see jellyfish and koalas and bears, all from the safety of your home.

Unfortunately, your local zoo may not be offering such services; typically, only major zoos and aquariums are offering live streams of their habitats. But with The New York Aquarium and the Smithsonian National Zoo showcasing their habitats online, what else would you need?

One word of warning: there's no telling how secure some live streams can be. If you end up watching a live stream from a lesser-known zoo, aquarium, museum, etc., download a VPN app to secure your connection.

Take Virtual Cooking Classes

Traveling to new countries means being able to learn about other cultures, experience these cultures in person. And a part of experiencing a new culture means trying out some of the local delicacies present in that country. After all, food is often a major talking point for travelers on vacation.

COVID killing your travel plans doesn't mean you can't still try new foods and delicacies. There are tons of online cooking classes available year-round that will teach you not only how to cook but will teach you recipes commonly found in other countries. These online classes typically showcase international chefs.

It's not the same thing as actually traveling to another country and trying the food there, but it is a decent alternative. This goes double for those of you who like cooking!

Staying at home-not being able to go anywhere-has been tough for everyone. These virtual tours, classes, and live streams offer solace, a way to virtually travel. If you're itching to travel, then it's highly recommended you try these out.
