As anyone who has watched Danish TV series Borgen will be aware, being the husband of a Nordic president or a prime minister can be painfully dull. All those state dinners and dutiful photo calls where you must wear a perma-grin. But that doesn’t excuse the behavior of Pentti Arajarvi, the husband of Finland’s president Tarja Halonen, at a recent royal dinner in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In a clip, which has gone viral, a bored-looking Arajarvi is seen staring fixedly at Danish princess Mary’s chest during the state banquet. The Sun boomed “cleave it out” and insisted that Arajarvi “was blatantly staring at her breasts, only looking away when she suddenly turned towards him.” The tabloid joked that it’s “lucky this ogle has not caused a major diplomatic incident” and said, somewhat unconvincingly, that, “in his defence, he may have simply been admiring Princess Mary’s necklace.”
