Village Boys

Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmar / July 2016: Mingling with community members, I couldn't help but wonder what the future lives of the kids would be in a very remote village where majority of the households are seasonal laborers in the vast rice fields of rich landowners and there are very little livelihood opportunities between the harvesting and planting seasons. In these villages, schools and other basic services are mostly inaccessible and the nearest town center is several hours away by boat. One could only guess that these boys' future lives won't be too different from those of their parents, their grandparents, and probably all the other village men before them.
